#1 Who can join LIGHT?
We are a Christian homeschool support group. All members must read through the "Statement of Faith" and "Code of Conduct" and agree to uphold both.
# 2 Is there a fee to become a member?
There is a $20.00 OR $30.00 membership.
The $20.00 membership requires that you coordinate at least one event for the group within the school year.
The $30.00 membership exempts you from coordinating an event for the group.
PayPal, personal check, or cash are accepted. Please make checks payable to "LIGHT"
BUT our group ONLY thrives if our members organize fun activities for our families! This is a volunteer-based group.
# 3 Do I need to be currently homeschooling to join?
Yes.
# 4 What do the membership fees fund?
Maintenance of the website, Fall Kick Off Picnic, Moms breakfast, Guest Speakers, Donations, Soccer Equipment, Corporation Fees, etc.
# 5 How long does your membership last?
The duration of the school year (September-August). Registration for the coming year opens August 1st.
# 6 Do I need to re-register & pay each year?
Yes.
# 7 What is included with my membership?
Fun, organized Christian-based events for our private member group.
Monthly "Moms Breakfast" which is encouraging and uplifting in our homeschool walk.
A community of fellow like-minded families that are raising their kids to honor Jesus Christ in all they do.
Mentorship from seasoned homeschool moms.
# 8 How often do you meet?
As often as our members create field trips or activities.
# 9 Am I required to attend all activities?
No. Attend as many or as few as you would like.
# 10 How do I know what activities are planned?
The BEST way to stay in touch is through our secret Facebook page, where all events are posted with details. Members will be granted access after their registration is complete and payment has been received. There is also a calendar posted on the website , visible when you are logged in to the member's area.
# 11 Who can see our Facebook page?
"Secret" means no one can look up our group. Everything on our Facebook page is secure and can only be viewed by active members. A current member or Admin must invite each member.
# 11 LIGHT Facebook rules?
Please read all rules on the pinned post on our Facebook page. All posts must be homeschool-related. Any posts that do not follow the rules or code of conduct will be deleted.
#12 Who plans field trips/activities?
Members. We are a full volunteer group. Our group only has as many opportunities as our members create. Pre-planned or impromptu activities posted all count as your event. No need to stress about it. Make it simple, or be creative, but most importantly, have fun with it!
# 13 How do I create an event or field trip?
No need for pre-approval. Create an "event" with all your details on our secret Facebook page. Don't have Facebook? Email us with the details, and LIGHT will post it for you. All events will be added to the website calendar as well.
#14 Who is allowed to attend LIGHT events?
Members ONLY & their grandparents. Non-members are not permitted to attend any of our events and are encouraged to join to participate.
# 15 Field trips/activities during the summer?
Yes, all depending on the events our members organize.
# 16 Do I need to attend all the soccer events?
Soccer is offered every year and is a casual, drop-in style. Join us whenever your family can. Please, NO CLEATS & available dads help facilitate this event! The season starts mid-August and runs until the end of October.
# 17 Are there any Additional costs?
Some field trips have varying costs.
#18 I registered and paid; how long does it take to hear back?
You will immediately receive a welcome email after registration - this email will have the subject line "Your registration" but frequently ends up in SPAM or junk mail. The welcome email has a link to the payment page and links to friend request an admin so you can be added to the Facebook group after payment is received. If you have any issues or questions, please email by clicking the "Contact Us" button.
#19 What ages is this group for?
Our families have children that range from newborn to 12th grade. There are activities for ALL AGES!
#20 Do you recommend joining HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association)?
HIGHLY recommended for all homeschoolers!!!
